Have you heard about this photography course in Perth to learn how to use your digital camera? Our serviced office blog this week is promoting a photography course for Code Lime Photography, a local small business. You may remember I wrote last year about Serena Pearce at Code Lime? Together with a Sydney based colleague, Serena now offers a photography course in Perth and Fremantle to help you handle your camera in a professional way.
Your Website Needs Professional Photographs
Serena is the excellent photographer who took the professional photos for our serviced office Perth in the early days. Any good photos you see on the Swanbourne Business Centre website are most likely the work of Serena and I’ve never regretted investing in this early album of professional photos. We have used them for brochures, websites, article directories, local directories and press releases. Often they have been demanded at short notice so it’s been useful to have the files of both high and low resolution photographs, provided by Serena when she completed the job.
Small Business Needs a Professional Image
When presenting your business to the public it is important to portray a professional image, because the initial presentation can either make or break the relationship. Just as fun or imaginative images entice us to read a newspaper article, so professional images will present your business as you wish it to be and invite further reading of your written material.
Because of the convenience of the iPhone, I use my iPhone camera for most quick personal photos and even for short videos. Convenience so often wins out over excellent results. Of course I know the results are much better when I take the time to set up a shot and make the correct settings according to the conditions.
Photography Course in Perth To Improve Your Technique

There’s no contest.
That’s why I’m going to take myself off to the next Code Lime photography course in Perth end of May. After which I’ll take another photograph of Serena and you should be able to see a huge improvement. Thereafter, when our business centre needs new images for its own website or if our clients need help with their website and social media content, I may be able to take the photographs myself.
Serena has joined with Sydney photographer Andrew Thomasson to offer two exciting courses to ‘take your camera off the auto mode’. There will be a one day beginners course Friday May 27 10am-6pm which will be repeated on Saturday May 28.
A follow up day which is nominated ‘advanced course’ will be held Sunday May 29th.
For full course details go to Focus 10 website.

In the world of architecture having professional images for our portfolio of buildings is of the utmost importance. Using images that are not of the highest standard reflects on our work and may cause us to lose clients.
To portray buildings in the best way requires professional expertise that the average person doesn’t have.
We always use professional photographers and have found like you, it pays dividends.

Julia, I think it is a great idea showing people how to take excellent photo’s for websites, social media etc. It is so true a good photo for a blog etc can be the difference in reading or clicking or not.
Hi Rosemary – You have great photos on your blog. Very lively and colourful. I want to build up a portfolio of my own images – learn to look at things differently and put some quirky interpretations on them. Then I won’t have to worry about copyright. But of course it’s great to have Microsoft images at hand. thanks for visiting. Julia
Julia, Many thanks yes it is best to have your own photos. I am practicing taking photo’s but I am finding it is taking me a while to learn all the skills. I was in Sligo in the west of Ireland a while ago and there are some beautiful views but I find landscapes can be very tricky. Here is a site I use from time to time for photos http://www.dreamstime.com/free-photos. All the best Rosemary

Thanks again Rosemary. I have checked and bookmarked the site, which is new to me. One of our friends is a multi-award winning landscape photographer whom we joined on a tour of the ‘white villages’ in the mountains of Spain. THAT was an experience. Last year he had a major accident whilst filming in some of our famous West Australian gorges (our Grand Canyon). Now we are holding a concert to celebrate his rescue 9see http://www.chordsforangels.org)
Julia, I am delighted you found the site helpful. I have just sent a tweet for you about your pal and it is great everything worked out well after the accident. I am in Dublin today and it is a busy time due to the queen of England visiting and Obama. Hopefully it will encourage tourism next year. Here is a video I like about events in my part of the world this year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25CoIu3zUfM All the best Rosemary

I reckon I could have done with a photography course, especially these days when most photographs end up being photoshopped. I have two photo blogs and I’ve picked up an awful lot merely because of the amount of photos I’ve had to take.
