Choux Cafe chef Emmanuel Mollois joined Paul McArdle, Consultant wine buyer for Must Wine Bar, for an evening of French deliciousness at Swanbourne Cellars last week. Lucky for us Swanbourne Cellars is just opposite the Swanbourne business centre.
9 French wines were thoughtfully married by Paul to 8 divine courses created by Emmanuel. Their spirited and funny dialogue discussed the pros and cons of the combined wines with the food textures and flavours – all the while educating and illuminating us, the audience.
During the evening wines were presented, served and replaced by the Swanbourne Cellars team of Steve, Ed and Alex with quiet aplomb. They could definitely run training courses for the Renaissance men in our lives.

Alex carefully pours
There was an element of The Muppets Show, as course by course, the chefs hidden from view behind the bar, somehow finding space to saute, bake, steam and whip behind the scenes, would pop up with a “voila!” and yet another perfect presentation would appear on the counter top. The photographs say it all. If opportunity comes your way, book the next French Food and Wine Degustation at Swanbourne Cellars.
Call and beg to be put on their email list: Phone : 08 9384 2111 If they are already booked out by the time you call, go on the cancellation list. I did. It worked !

Hi Julia
I’m off to the beautiful french cafe for lavender macaroons with a friend on Monday. Birthday treat for my friend as she was in hopsital on her birthday. Will buy some extra and enjoy some with my Mother in the afternoon. Not too much blogging going on Monday daytime eh??!! Will have to work harder in the evening.
BTW I just opened my Etsy store with local lavender products and had my first lavender party last Saturday. Everyone loved the products and I am planning on more soon. Hope all going well for you too.

Do you mean Choux Cafe ? My office is very close – we could say a quick hello.
Congratulations on your Etsy store opening. Wonderful news!

Hi Julia
Was so good to see you at Choux Cafe. What a lovely surprise
I really enjoyed the morning with my friend. We went back to my home and continued our catchup as her parents were babysitting for her.
I was so surprised to see you and it was good you recognised me. I even tweeted about it and usually I just stick to business tweets.
Ben has just sorted my backoffice in WordPress and upgraded for me. What a kind man he is. I was so glad he did as I am such a technophobe lol

Hi Patricia, It was such a coincidence. And how odd that I could recognise you from that tiny photo – it must have been the lavender macaroons in your hand.
Yes, Ben is (www.benwan.net) a generous supporter of us non tech bloggers. Julia
I love wine tastings especially with that good food on the photo. Looks like a fine dining experience for guests. People would love to try to visit this cafe.
It was certainly a fine dining experience – the menu was superb. It’s not the normal menu of the Choux Cafe though – these tastings were specially prepared to match the wines. Do you do anything similar with your wine brands? It gives the attendees an easy way to try the wines in a very social atmosphere. Julia
